Osakis MN Resort Family Fun and Activities

Head of the Lakes Resort has a lot of activities and features to keep the whole family entertained for hours on end, while making memories that will last a whole lot longer. At our family-friendly resort, you can expect to find:

Horseshoe Pit – Sandy horseshoe pit with horseshoes available. Who has the best arm with the best aim?

Swimming Area – gradual slopes for swimmers of all ages and stages of swimming abilities (no lifeguard on duty)

Sandy Beach – sun tanning platform with lounge chairs are provided.

Rainbow Playground – perfect for little ones that have a need to climb, slide, swing, jump, and play!

Game Room – Located inside the Lodge itself, current games consist of Big Buck Hunter, Ms. Pac Man, Stacker, and 2 different crane games, in addition to a touch Tunes Machine for great music. **Volleyball Court COMING SOON***

Restaurant & Bar – perfect for those family meals or getting together with friends after a long day of enjoying everything nature has to offer. Open year-round, 7 days a week.

Lake Osakis Access – Direct access to Lake Osakis from the resort. Beach area and swimming are available as well.

Little Osakis Lake Access – There is no public access to Little Osakis Lake, however it is accessible via the creek that runs through the resort. It is a great fishing lake!

Cabins – Modern housekeeping cabins, with fully equipped kitchens. Fully furnished with hide-a-beds, stove, and fridge. All cabins have soft water, air conditioning, and gas heat.

Camping – All RV camping sites have their own fire ring and picnic table. Fire wood available onsite.

Dumping Station – Available upon check in.

Tenting – Large open tenting area with fire rings, picnic tables and charcoal grills, don’t forget your charcoal and lighter fluid.

Boat & Pontoon Rentals – Fishing boats and motors are available for rent to be used on either Lake Osakis or Little Osakis. Life jackets, oars, fishing nets, and anchors provided with boat rentals.

Fishing & Hunting Licenses – We are an agent to sell Minnesota fishing and hunting licenses through the MN Department of Natural Resources Electronic License System.

Bait & Tackle – Have a bait shop onsite to sell bait (wax worms, night crawlers, leaf worms, leeches, minnows, and spearing decoys), fishing tackle, and basic fishing supplies.

Ice Fishing & Spear House Rentals – No frills ice fishing for your basic fish house for the serious ice fisherman. Your 8×16 fish house comes with all the standard equipment - 4 plywood bunks, 8 holes, gas heat, rattle wheels, card table and chairs, and 12 volt electric lights (bring your 12 volt battery). We drill the holes and turn on the heat then leave catching the fish up to you. We place the fish houses where we believe the fish bite best, but remember it is fishing not catching. Don’t forget your cards and beverages! We have 7 fish houses available for rent as well as 4 newly built spear houses to get you on the ice sooner.

Fish Cleaning Shack – A log sided fish cleaning hut with lots of counter space to clean your catch and leave guts behind for us to get rid of.

Fire Wood – We have fire wood for sale onsite. Wood is kept inside shed to keep dry and we provide wheelbarrow to help transport it from shed to fire pit for your enjoyment.

Propane – We provide a propane filling station on location if needed for heating and/or cooking purposes.

Gas with Dockside Service – We sell gas (unleaded & premium) on location with dockside service available to boats already on the water.

Snowmobile Trails – he DATA (Douglas Area Trail Association) trail runs right the resort itself and across Lake Osakis. Many other trails in the area to enjoy as long as we have snow as well.

Guest Docks – Have guest docks available for people camping at resort or for visitors on the lake that want to come ashore for bite to eat, a snack, ice cream, a beverage, bait or anything else we provide.
